An intergenerational project vital to the ongoing growth and success of Ngāti Whātua o Ōrākei.
Koi Tū: The Centre for Informed Futures has entered a partnership with Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei to explore strategies to improve the health and human potential of the hapū. The project takes a holistic, whole life course approach and focuses on areas with the clearest potential to have long-lasting intergenerational impact.
We have identified health and wellbeing needs and recommendations for hapū members. We have captured snapshots of further key issues such as education and housing and calculated population projections to see how the makeup of the hapū is predicted to change over the next 50 years. In addition, we have been working towards developing a Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei-specific research governance framework.
The project is being conducted under an agreement which recognises Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei’s data sovereignty and its full control over the results of the exploration.
The report is available here and further information on the project is also available on Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei’s website.
Koi Tū and Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei have committed to ongoing collaborations and we look forward to continuing our work together.
