Reflections on ‘Te Tiriti o Waitangi’ hui

Koi Tū strategic advisor Māori, Dr Te Ahukaramū Charles Royal, shares some of his reflections from the recent ‘Te Tiriti o Waitangi’ hui called by Kingi Tūheitia at Tūrangawaewae Marae, Ngāruawāhia, on Saturday 20 January 2024.

He describes it as a historic event which shows how the Kīngitanga continues to be an extraordinary institution.

He also discusses how the hui emphasised the ongoing importance of Te Tiriti-o-Waitangi and how the event showcased the strength and preparedness of the Māori world, particularly the rising generation, to advocate for Te Tiriti.
