Trust in the police: Mark Evans to lead key research

We’re excited to welcome Mark Evans to Koi Tū as he leads a new research project on ‘Trust in the Police,’ building on our work around institutional trust and its connection to social cohesion.

With 15 years of senior experience in the New Zealand Police, most recently as Executive Lead: Future Policing, Mark has been involved in high-profile operations and contributed to the all-of-government COVID-19 response in 2020. He’s also participated in international policing events across Europe, the US, Canada, South Africa, and beyond.

Mark’s recent involvement in research on fairness in New Zealand policing has gained local and international attention for its innovative, community-centered approach. His expertise spans intelligence, evidence-based policing, problem-solving and using data and insights to enhance leadership decisions and community outcomes.
