Mattie has had a varied career covering teaching and diplomacy (with postings in Kuala Lumpur and New York) before moving to public relations/communications. She has worked in several sectors, including sustainable agriculture, education, architecture, local and central government and also with not-for-profit organisations. She has been involved in major initiatives includingmanaging communications and liaison for the ground-breaking Te Maori Exhibition in the USA, and overseeing communications for the Tomorrow’s Schools reforms of administration in the education sector. Recently she helped establish the prestigious new Kupe Leadership Scholarship for postgraduate students, in all disciplines and from universities across NZ.
No stranger to the University of Auckland, Mattie has worked within the University of Auckland Business School for four years as Director of Donor Stewardship, liaising with philanthropists, corporate funders and trusts. Following this she held a variety of project management roles, liaising between the Business School and the wider business community.
